Director, Global Social Media | ORACLE

Lisa Marcyes is Oracle's Director, Global Social Media. She is currently driving Oracle's social media channel strategy and initiatives. She has helped brands such as Cisco and Marketo build their digital and social presence for the last decade. A Bay Area resident, she enjoys the beach, hiking, and photography.


1.)     What was your very first job? 

Ice skating rink attendant. I got paid to throw on a pair of skates and have fun on the ice a couple hours a night. What’s better than that?


2.)     Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.

I am the Global Head of Oracle social media organization of 18 cross-functional professionals supporting 4 regions. I develop owned and earned social strategy for 24+ social channels across 8 lines of business to include Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.


3.)     How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today? 

I’ve always loved the written word and interacting with people. I naturally migrated to creating copy and managing social communities (blogs, video, livestreams, tweet chats).


4.)     In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?

The social landscape is changing so rapidly, it can be hard to keep up. I listen to podcasts, attend conferences, and have brainstorming sessions with my team to keep up on relevant trends. I’ve found the best way to learn is to jump in feet first and go for it!


5.)     If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be? 

An influencer campaign we ran recognizing “31 influencers to follow” leading up to the new year. We created animated bitmoji’s that looked like each of the influencers, an advent calendar where each influencer was uncovered, co-created content published, and a compiled twitter list. It was a win in awareness and engagement overall.

Which of these disciplines are you most be interested in seeing at CONNECTIONS? (ie photo, film, social, experiential, vr, etc) Social, video, livestreaming, visual, and experiential (3-D, AR)
