1.) What was your very first job?
Clean up boy at a meat market. I was 13 years old.
2.) Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.
My job is to maintain order, balance, harmony and beauty while being strategic and thoughtful. Create beautiful things, direct the creative process and inspire others.
3.) How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today?
My parents always collected art and took me to art exhibitions, studios and museums growing up. I had the pleasure of interning at Creative Growth after high school. It’s a an amazing facility/program in Oakland for developmentally disabled adults to create art. My father was on the board of directors.
4.) In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?
I think it’s important to travel the world and network with other creatives as much as possible. New places inspire new ideas. New people inspire new conversations.
5.) If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be?
My son, Elijah.
6.) Which creative disciplines do you commission most, and are most interested in seeing more of and why? Which of these disciplines are you most be interested in seeing at CONNECTIONS? (ie photo, film, social, experiential, vr, etc)
Film, social and experimental activations/installations. VR is next level
