Joe Falco is a Co-Founder, President and Chief Creative Officer of Xcel Brands (xcelbrands.com), a consumer lifestyle brand development and media company engaged in the design, licensing, marketing and direct-to-consumer sales of branded apparel, footwear, accessories, jewelry, home goods, and other consumer products. Xcel Brands has pioneered an omnichannel sales strategy which includes the global promotion and sale of products under its brands through direct-response television, brick and mortar retail, and e-commerce.

Mr. Falco began his career at Barneys New York where his exposure to product, strategic merchandising, and consumer engagement inspired him to pursue a career in the fashion industry. For over 20 years, he has held key leadership roles with global lifestyle brands and retailers such as Calvin Klein, DKNY, Dolce & Gabbana, The Sixty Group, and Elie Tahari. He has a proven track record of driving key strategies in support of brand development and revenue objectives, while establishing best-practice operational standards.

Mr. Falco currently oversees Xcel Brand’s creative operations and consumer facing businesses including direct response television, e-commerce, and licensing. He leads the design, branding, and creative marketing teams and is responsible for the complete integration of product, marketing, and customer experience ensuring consistent brand messaging at all consumer touch points. Through his leadership, Xcel Brands has fostered a creative culture and design organization with over 80 full-time designers whose expertise and “designing for outcomes” approach has driven lifetime sales of more than 3.5 billion dollars.

Mr. Falco serves on the board of the Accessories Council, a not-for-profit international trade organization established in 1994 whose mission is to stimulate consumer awareness and demand for fashion accessory products.

From 2012 to 2014, he served on the Vendor Advisory Board of QVC (A wholly owned subsidiary of Liberty Interactive Corporation – LINTA), the world’s top multimedia shopping company (qvc.com/About Us). His role was to represent the voice of the broader vendor community and add insight into the modern luxury lifestyle sector.

2.)     Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails. Connecting the dots between creative, brand, consumer, and commerce objectives.

3.)     How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today? I just always knew that was the path, art, music, film just became my every day.

4.)     In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant? Keep my eyes and ears open – stay curious.

5.)     If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be? TBD
