Creative Director | COLLE+MCVOY

As creative director at creative agency Colle McVoy, Puja Shah brings her diverse background, global experience and unique perspective to all her projects. She has worked on global, national and regional accounts at agencies in three different countries and five cities. Her brand experience includes Acura, BMW, Invisalign, U.S Bank and Yoplait, as well as purpose-driven work for JPA and Proof Alliance. Her work has won many advertising awards including Cannes, The One Show and the Effies.

 

Puja believes that effective advertising and marketing are the perfect blend of understanding the client requirements, consumer needs and media landscape and then coming up with innovative, tastefully molded ideas that build long-term relationships between consumers and brands. She thinks like a business person, acts like an artist. From crafting larger strategic territories, diving into the depths of human behavior to unearth the perfect insight, to obsessing over the details of the right camera lens, animation, edit, music or the Pantone chip color; she loves it all. And she treats every project on her plate with passion and honesty.

 

Puja also loves being near the ocean, investing and teaching her daughter how to climb trees.

1.)     What was your very first job? 
Window display designs for retail stores.

2.)     Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails. 
I identify creative ways of solving complex business problems. And work with talented crafts men and women to bring it to life.

3.)     How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today? 

I don’t like being bored. And the creative world has never bored me. I loved art at school, enjoyed well crafted stores, fashion, photography and movies-  so when I met a creative director, who spoke about his work and the people he would interact with. I knew it had to be IT.

4.)     In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant? 

I have always found inspiration in diversity and unfamiliarity. I look where others haven’t looked yet.

5.)     If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be?  I was very proud of a poster campaign I did for Juvenile Protective Association. It made me feel nice about using my talent for something good but I also really enjoyed making it.

6.)     Which creative disciplines do you commission most, and are most interested in seeing more of and why? (ie photo, film, social, experiential, vr, etc)
I use a variety of disciplines in my work including illustrations, animation, photography, CGI, VR, music and Film
