Having grown up in a family of builders, crafters and artisans, Kate has always been surrounded by creativity and inspiration and had access to the tools to express her creativity. Most fortunately, amongst the hammers, saws and the sewing machine, there were cameras. “Even before I started taking pictures, I was obsessed with light…how it affected my emotions; created mood and atmosphere. I was enthralled by the process of printing, and it was such a revelation to realize how I had the power to manipulate light and capture some of these feelings, and their essence, with the camera and on paper.” Born in Arkansas and raised in Bucks County Pennsylvania, Kate moved to New York to attend FIT. After graduation, and a brief stint in the magazine industry, she began assisting top still life photographers like Victor Schrager and David Prince, where she was able to hone her skills. These experiences eventually led her to Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, where her photography helped launch many MSL branded partnerships, including Macy’s, Michaels Crafts and 1-800-Flowers. Today, Kate lives in Brooklyn with her husband, daughter and son. Her evocative use of light and keen compositional eye can be seen in her work for clients such as: Aerie, Anthropologie, Bloomingdale’s, Burt’s Bees, Chloe & Isabel, Clinique, Coffee Bean, David Yurman, Garnet Hill, Garnier Whole Blends, Harper Macaw, Herbal Essences, Macy’s, Martha Stewart Living, Nude Skincare, O Magazine, Oreo, Partida Tequila, Real Simple, Teavana, Westin and Williams-Sonoma.
