Justin Fantl tends not to fuss. He says, “I try to go with a gut feeling (at least at the outset). I like to throw things down (albeit carefully).” His enthusiasm spills onto his canvas in still-lifes that capture a sense of wonder and humor. A perpetual observer and explorer, he is equally at home in the studio as he is outdoors. Whether seeking or constructing, there is often a nod to the surreal and a careful play of color and composition at the root of his imagery. A native of New Hampshire, Justin studied in NYC and San Francisco and now resides in Los Angeles. He is the recipient of several awards including PDN Photo Annual, PDN’s 30, Communication Arts Photo Annual, and APA Best in Still Life.
