Alex Marashian studied philosophy at Harvard and learned communications at COLORS Magazine under mentors Oliviero Toscani and Tibor Kalman. In 1995, aged 25, he became Editor-in-Chief of COLORS. Since then he has straddled the fields of journalism, advertising and branding. He worked for Tina Brown at Talk Magazine and served as Editor-at-Large of AnOther Magazine for more than ten years. He has collaborated directly or through agencies with brands such as Nike, Mercedes, Allianz, Volkswagen, Thierry Mugler, Yohji Yamamoto, Calvin Klein, Ermenegildo Zegna, Linda Farrow, DEDON, Channel 4 Television, Inter Football Club and Marc O’Polo, among others. In addition to his editorial and commercial work, he is a longtime collaborator of international recording artists Pink Martini, directing music videos, co-writing songs and co-producing an album. He recently served two semesters as guest professor in Visual Communication at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
