Pepijn started in 1998 as creative for various agencies such as Grey Worldwide Amsterdam, G2 Amsterdam, LOWE/Draftfcb (Amsterdam, London, Hamburg) and Cheil Worldwide Amsterdam. He created campaigns for clients including Unilever, KPN, Delta Lloyd, Red Cross and Samsung. As a Creative Director of Cheil Amsterdam he is the founder of The Samsung SmartSuit. Pepijn has won every major international advertising award including gold at Cannes Lions, Best Of The Best at the Red Dot Awards, gold at the Clio Awards, The One Show, Eurobest and numerous local awards.

Pepijn is always searching for solutions based on a simple idea, great storytelling, captivating technology and shares the vision of Albert Einstein; “Creativity is intelligence having fun”.

What was your very first job? What does it feel like to look back at it now?

During my study I worked as a fast food cook. It was great. Had lots of fun. Working with nice people makes every job great. So, I decided from that point I only wanted to work with fun people. Fun makes good work great.

Please describe, in your own words, what your current job is and what work it entails.

Understanding a clients problem or challenge. Searching for solutions based on a simple idea. Bringing that simple idea to life. Make it good, make it better, make it great.

How did you discover that the creative world is right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? Which train of events did bring you to where you are today?

I was born creative, so a big thank you to my parents. Experience made me the creative I am right now.

In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how and where do you usually find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?

By not looking too hard for it. Innovation appears to you while really understanding a problem or challenge.

If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, especially for the creative work and innovation it required rather than its recognition or industry success, what would it be?

The Samsung SmartSuit.
