Lauren ABRAMS

Head of Mktg. Oper, and Prod. | AMAZON STUDIOS

Lauren has spent the last 20 years producing marketing and brand campaigns within the advertising, television, and photography industries.  Lauren began her career as a print producer in the New York advertising world making stops at TBWA/Chiat/Day, KB+P, and J. Walter Thompson. From there she went on to become a photo producer and retouching manager at a private studio before moving back to agency life where she oversaw the production department for the in-house creative services agency at DIRECTV. While in NYC, she produced work for a variety of clients including Maybelline, NARS, John Frieda, Microsoft, NFL, and Kenneth Cole.  She is now living in L.A. and working in the entertainment and original content marketing space as the Head of Marketing Operations & Production at Amazon Studios.

questionnaire

1. What was your very first job?

An internship as a traffic coordinator at Travel & Leisure magazine.

2. Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.

I oversee multiple teams that are responsible for the execution and delivery of 360 marketing campaigns in support of Amazon’s Original Series programming.

3. How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today?

From a very young age, I was always creating something—drawing, painting, photography—it was all I wanted to do.  In high school, I was accepted into a visual and performing arts program that allowed me to take academic classes at my local high school in the morning, then attend the arts program in the afternoon.  That time spent focusing on the arts during my formative years undoubtedly served as the foundation for my current career path.

4. In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?

I’ve always enjoyed keeping up with emerging artists in the business — photographers, editors, illustrators, musicians, printers … anyone who has a fresh take on what’s been done before and can offer a new perspective or approach.

5. If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be?

A pro bono campaign for the All Stars Project in Newark, NJ, which provides inner city youth opportunities through the performing arts.
