Nathan is the Executive Creative Director at Anthropologie, working with an insanely talented team of creators and problem solvers on fashion, furniture, home and beauty. As a multidisciplinary creative, Nathan has told stories and created experiences for Ralph Lauren, David Yurman, La Mer, Nike, L’Oreal and Grey Goose.

What was your very first job?

Grew up in a blue collar neighborhood doing blue collar things.

Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.

Building a team that is like family. Creating stories that people want to be a part of. Understanding what makes people tick, click, watch, read, buy.

How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today?

Being creative is being a problem solver and humans are hardwired to solve problems. Everyone is creative. It just comes down to the question – what do you enjoy?

In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?

Surrounding myself with people who are better than me, who push me and inspire me. Being hands on and continuing to learn every aspect of this business.

If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be?

My next project. Always the next project. Always making the next project the best thing I’ve ever done.
